WE WROTE THE BOOK ON IT
This is the field manual we wish every crew had before their first live-equipment call. Not a franchised curriculum. Not a slideshow read by someone who's never opened an MCC in the field.
The patch is not a clean industrial shop. It's dust, mud, H2S, blowing sand, extreme heat, winter ice, a generator feeding a skid modified on the last location, and five contractors on one pad each with a different idea of who's in charge. This book was written for that environment — not a classroom.

“Licensed” Is Not the Same as “Qualified”
A person can be a skilled residential electrician and still be unqualified to troubleshoot a 480-volt motor control center on a production facility. A lineman may be highly qualified on overhead distribution and still unfamiliar with the stored energy inside a VFD. Qualification is tied to the specific equipment, voltage, hazard, and task — not a license number.
Licensed ≠ Qualified. Experienced ≠ Qualified. Authorized ≠ Qualified.

What's Inside
Fifteen chapters covering the hazards that are actually specific to the patch — plus eight appendices built to be printed, filled out, and used on location.
CHAPTERS 1–5
The oilfield environment, NFPA 70E on the pad, building a JSA/JHA that actually holds up, lockout/tagout with multiple energy sources, and PPE selection for the patch.
CHAPTERS 6–10
Portable and temporary power, drilling rig and pulling unit electrical systems, static/bonding/grounding during fluid transfer, hazardous-location equipment, and overhead lines around cranes and mobile equipment.
CHAPTERS 11–15
Electrification of modern oilfield operations, real-world case studies of what went wrong and why, electrical rescue when EMS is 45 minutes away, torque as a safety issue, and NFPA 70B maintenance for oilfield equipment.
8 FIELD APPENDICES
Ready-to-use field forms and checklists, completed field examples, a 22-diagram safety graphics atlas, quick-reference tables, an emergency/rescue package, an NFPA 70B maintenance starter package, and a full glossary and regulatory matrix.

Chapter 12: Case Studies — When Things Went Wrong
Composite field incidents built from recurring failure patterns — a VFD arc flash at an SWD facility, and more. Electrical incidents rarely happen because one person made one bad move. They happen because several controls looked fine separately and failed when the job crossed boundaries. Each case is broken down into what happened, what the evidence showed, and the real cause that had to be corrected.
